The Family Support Centre (FSC) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of a half-day Gender-Based Violence (GBV) stakeholder meeting in Noro, which brought together a strong representation of partners committed to addressing GBV in the community.

Attending the meeting were representatives from SolTuna, National Fisheries Development (NFD), Noro Ports, the Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIP), churches, the Noro Town Clerk’s office, the health sector, women’s groups, and the Provincial Committee members.

The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to share insights, discuss challenges, and strengthen collaboration. FSC was encouraged by the level of participation and the clear commitment from members who called for more regular meetings of this kind to sustain momentum in the fight against GBV.

A key highlight of the meeting was the recognition of the urgent need for a safe shelter for GBV survivors in Noro. Members agreed that creating a secure space for survivors is a priority, and discussions are underway with the Town Clerk’s office to identify a possible land area or facility that can serve as both an office and a safe shelter.

This meeting reflects FSC’s vision of building stronger community partnerships to ensure that survivors of GBV receive the care, protection, and support they deserve. FSC looks forward to working closely with all Noro stakeholders to turn these commitments into action.
